LOGLINE

When her ex-husband reappears, now living with dementia and unaware of their divorce, Hanne’s orderly life with partner Bernd is disrupted. What begins as an uneasy coexistence gradually opens up unexpected possibilities for love and for life.

SYNOPSIS

Hanne Zweig (63), once a sculptor, begins to feel the weight of aging and her stagnant marriage with former pastor Bernd (67) leaves her longing for renewal. One day Hanne´sex-husband Kurt (71), shows up at their door. Suffering from Alzheimer's, Kurt doesn’t remember that they’ve been divorced for many years. When the care home he fled from can not take him back, Hanne reluctantly takes him to their home. While finding a new care home becomes hard, the improvised life together works better than expected. While Kurt still thinks he and Hanne are a couple, Hanne's actual husband Bernd and Kurt become friends. The common responsibility rekindles passion in Hanne and Bernd’s relationship, while Kurt’s presence inspires Hanne to create new art. But after Hannes finds out that she feels drawn to both men, Kurt’s dementia deepens and change becomes inevitable.
